How does player stats betting work?

Player stats markets, you can place bets on specific metrics of a named player during a match. Here are, explanations for these statistics:

Shots

Categorized as a deliberate and clear attempt to score against the opposing team’s goal. This encompasses all shots on target, shots off target, and blocked shots.

Shots on target

A purposeful effort to score against the opposing team’s goal that either:

  • Results in a goal when the ball goes into the net.
  • Constitutes a clear attempt to score, which would have gone into the net if not saved by the goalkeeper.
  • Counts as a clear scoring attempt, which would have gone into the net but is halted by a defending player who is the last line of defense.
  • Occurs when the goalkeeper deflects the shot onto the goal frame (post or bar).

Shots off target

An intentional attempt to score that either:

  • Goes over or wide of the goal without making contact with another player.
  • Was heading off target but was stopped by the goalkeeper.
  • Was heading off target but was stopped by any outfield player.
  • Hits the goal frame (post or bar) without resulting in a goal.

Tackles

An event where a player connects with the ball during a ground challenge, successfully taking it away from the player in possession. The tackled player must have clear possession of the ball before the tackle occurs. A tackle is not recorded when a player intercepts an intended pass or loses control of the ball. It’s important to note that a foul is not considered a tackle.

Offside

When a player is found in an offside position, resulting in a subsequent free kick awarded to the opposing team. If two or more players are in an offside position when the pass is made, the player closest or attempting to touch the ball or interfere with play is deemed offside.

Assists

The final touch leading to a goal scored by the recipient of the ball. It’s essential to exclude own goals, penalty goals, or free kick goals from being counted as assists. Additionally, if a shot on goal is saved by the goalkeeper, blocked by a defending player, or hits the goal frame, the initial shot is not considered an assist. However, deflected passes can still be considered assists if the pass is completed, and the subsequent shot results in a goal.

Passes

Intentional ball movements from one player on a team to another player on the same team. This category encompasses passes of all types, including corners, throw-ins, free kicks, kick-offs, goal kicks, and goalkeeper throws. It’s important to note that passes can be made at any height.

Free kicks

To be counted, any awarded free kick must be taken. Free kicks that are awarded but not executed are not counted.

Throw-ins

For a throw-in to be counted, it must be successfully executed. Throw-ins that are awarded but not taken do not count.

Fouls committed

Any infringement penalized as foul play by the referee is recorded as a foul committed. Offside incidents are not included in the foul count. Instances where advantage is played do not contribute to the total fouls committed, even if a player is subsequently cautioned. To count as a foul committed, a free kick or penalty must be awarded.

Fouls won

A foul won occurs when a player earns a free kick or penalty for their team after being fouled by an opponent. Notably, no foul is awarded for incidents like handballs, dives, back passes, illegal restarts, dissent towards officials, goalkeeper 6-second violations, or obstructions that result in a free kick.

Goal methods

  • penalty taken: whether a penalty will be taken. Penalties awarded but not taken are not considered winning selections unless a completed penalty occurs.
  • penalty missed: whether a penalty will be missed. This includes any penalty kick that does not result in a goal. Missed penalties that are subsequently retaken are excluded. Additionally, if a penalty rebounds from the goal frame or goalkeeper and is touched again before a goal is scored, it’s counted as a miss.
  • penalty scored: whether a penalty will be scored by the nominated team. The same rule regarding rebounds applies here. Penalties scored but ordered to be retaken do not count.
  • 2+ penalties taken: whether two or more penalties will be taken. Penalties awarded but not taken are not considered as awarded penalties.
  • 2+ penalties scored: whether two or more penalties will be scored by the nominated team. The original penalty, in cases where penalties are retaken, does not count.
  • free kick goal: whether a free kick will be scored by the nominated team. These goals must result directly from a free kick, and penalties are not included.
  • header goal: whether a goal will be scored through a header, intentional or not. Own goals are excluded from this category.
  • outside box goal: whether a goal will be scored from outside the 18-yard penalty area by the nominated team. Own goals are excluded. Any goal from outside the box is considered a winning selection, intentional or not. Free kicks are included.

How will a player score

You are wagering on how the nominated player will score, with the following options available (own goals are excluded in all cases):

  • header: the nominated player scores a goal with their head, whether intentionally or not.
  • free kick: the nominated player scores a direct free kick for their team.
  • outside of the box: the nominated player scores from outside the 18-yard penalty area for their team. A free kick goal from outside the box counts as a winning selection.
  • penalty: the nominated player scores a penalty for their team, provided the goal is directly from the penalty. Rebounds from penalty kicks are not considered goals scored by penalty.
